Cornelissen Big Plush Bat

This is a REALLY BIG cuddly plush bat- as people who collect cuddly bats ourselves we love it. It’s got a wingspan of 75cm and is 30cm from tail to ears. There are about 1300 species of bat around the world- a lot of them are a lot smaller than this toy. Even the biggest we have in the UK, the Noctule, has a wingspan of about 40cm. The bats most people see, the Pipistrelles can have wingspans up to 25cm or so- the wings are long in comparison to the actual size of the body so bats look bigger when flying around than they really are. But there are bats as big as this toy or bigger- the flying foxes can get up to having a 2m wingspan! If you ever see a bat this big flying around in the UK it will likely be an escapee from a zoo!
